About On the Rox Media

Since 1998, On the Rox Media has been the solo endeavor of Roxanne Rubell, a PR and marketing consultant and copywriter with more than three decades of experience helping businesses and brands tell their stories, build awareness and connect with their audiences. While restaurant and hospitality, food and beverage, and consumer and lifestyle brands have long been the cornerstones of my work, over the years my experience has expanded to include the banking and healthcare sectors.

What I Do

I combine traditional PR and media outreach with copywriting, content development and digital marketing. Depending on the client and project, that might mean developing a PR campaign, securing media coverage, writing website or marketing copy, creating an e-newsletter, developing social media content or helping shape the story a brand wants to tell.

Every client and project is different, so I tailor my work to what’s needed, whether that means an ongoing partnership or support for a specific project.

Why Work With Me?

When you work with On the Rox Media, you work directly with me. My career has spanned everything from traditional media relations, print advertising and direct mail to social media, digital content, analytics and AI...with plenty of plot twists in between. I’m a big believer in utilizing the best of both worlds: knowing which tried-and-true fundamentals are worth keeping while staying curious and proactive about embracing the newest tools, technology and ideas.

FUN FACT.

In 2009, while living in Los Angeles, I channeled my entrepreneurial spirit into creating Baking Whoopie, an online bakery devoted to making gourmet whoopie pies.

Cupcakes were everywhere, but for the most part, people in Los Angeles had never even heard of a whoopie pie. Having grown up in New England, I had a hunch whoopie pies could be the next cupcake.

I took the business from concept to market, doing extensive product research and development and handling everything from brand development, marketing, PR, social media and website development to the packaging and shipping.

Just nine months after launching, Baking Whoopie was selected for the 2010 Neiman Marcus Holiday Epicure Catalog and went on to receive significant online, print and broadcast media attention in the Los Angeles market, along with national coverage, including this feature in American Way, American Airlines’ in-flight magazine.

Having an idea is one thing. Taking action and making it a reality is another, and it’s not for the faint of heart.

Baking Whoopie gave me a hands-on, soup-to-nuts education in building a brand from the ground up, fueled by passion, persistence and plenty of sweat equity. But what an endeavor! Having experienced firsthand what it means to build a business around something you believe in, I understand the passion my clients bring to what they’ve created and how important it is to help others see what makes it special.
